Responsible Recycling of E-Waste Has a Financial Cost

As full recycling of e-waste carries a financial cost, Urban Miners charge fees on a per-item basis (full list below). These fees cover the costs of full recycling and recovery charged by our processing partners, as well as freight, insurance, and the lease on our processing facility.

Please note that free recycling for household batteries is available at Mitre 10 in Cambridge and Pak N’ Save in Te Awamutu.

$5 Mobile phones, keyboards, mice, modems and routers, small kitchen appliances like toasters and kettles.
Large Electronics
Does not fit template 40cm × 20cm
$10 Laptops, flat-panel monitors, microwaves, vacuum cleaners, stereo systems, gaming consoles.
Printers & Scanners $15 Home printers, small and medium scanners, multi-function devices.
CRT TVs $55 Old-style cathode-ray tube televisions.
Free of charge Free Wiring and cabling, household batteries, laptop batteries, car batteries.

Items that fit through this template are charged at the Small Electronics rate.

Items that do not fit are charged at the Large Electronics rate.

Please note: we cannot accept items that contain gas under pressure, oil heaters, or whiteware appliances. CRT TVs are a fixed-price item.
